4 for 4

Dec 31, 2017

Dear Fellow Alumni:

As Shapell’s/Darche Noam celebrates its 40th year, it is clear to us that the institution we love so much is at a critical juncture. Even as the Yeshiva and Midrasha impact the lives of almost 250 students each year, tuition and the annual grant from the David and Fela Shapell family foundation covers only a little over 40% of the budget. It is essential that our alumni step forward and take responsibility for providing the additional monies Shapell’s/Darche Noam needs each year to continue providing Torah education that transforms the lives of the men and women privileged to study at the wonderful institution that was so crucial to all of us.

The Jewish foundation of our lives that we built during our time at Shapell’s/Darche Noam has paid countless dividends over the years. The Torah we study and teach, the way we parent and educate our children, our ability to appreciate and integrate in appropriate and diverse communities – all have been profoundly influenced by that precious time we spent in the Yeshiva and Midrasha. Whether a siyum that we or one of our children make, or a simcha that we celebrate, the seeds were planted and nourished at Shapell’s/Yeshiva Darche Noam and Midreshet Rachel v’Chaya. Who can put a price on that?

As members of this special alumni family, we know better than anyone the impact Shapell’s/Darche Noam makes. We recognize that as alumni we must step forward to carry the burden of ensuring the continuation of that impact. It is for that reason that we have joined the “Top 4 for 4 years” project, committing to make Shapell’s/Darche Noam one of the top four recipients of our tzedakah for at least the next four years. It is our privilege to do so and we encourage our fellow alumni to do the same so that future generations will have similar life-changing experiences as we had.

If you agree to join us in making this “Top 4 for 4 years” commitment, please email alumnicampaign@darchenoam.org to add your name to ours. We will publicize this list to encourage others. Please then concretize your commitment by making the largest gift you can to honor the 40th year of Shapell’s/Darche Noam, Rabbi and Mrs. Hirshfeld, and the five honoree alumni couples. Please place your ad in the tribute journal at www.darchenoam.org/dinner40.

It’s time for all of us to do our part. It is of course a fulfillment of Hakarat Hatov. But it is also about ensuring that Shapell’s/Yeshiva Darche Noam and Midreshet Rachel v’Chaya can thrive and impact thousands more for generations to come. Please join us.
